Lomak added to MoMA's permanent collection
Following display at the Museum of Modern Art’s (MoMA) “Design and the Elastic Mind” exhibition from February through to May of 2008, the Lomak keyboard has been selected for addition to MoMA’s permanent collection in the Department of Architecture and Design.
Curatorial Assistant for the department, Patricia Juncosa, expressed her delight
“... to have this exceptional piece to display in the Museum ...”, and the hope that MoMA would have more chances to work with Opdo in the future.
For award winning New Zealand designer Peter Haythornthwaite of Creativelab, the designer of the Lomak keyboard, this is a lifelong dream come true, but one that has not been actively pursued. “This has wonderfully crept up on us! The whole team here will be extremely pleased,” he said on hearing that Lomak was to be taken into the permanent collection.
